Tumblr Launches Instant Messaging

This week the popular blogging platform Tumblr rolled out a feature that users have been asking for for years -- instant messaging for mobile and web. The new feature is being rolled out to users in stages, with a broad rollout expected to reach all users in several weeks. According to TechCrunch, although the feature is a minor update to the platform, "Messaging has the potential to transform Tumblr into a more social service than it is today, as it gives the platform a real-time, engaging element."
