Amazon Planning to Bundle with Other Video Services

It was reported this week that Amazon is in talks to bundle their Prime subscription service with third-party online video services and TV networks. According to sources, Amazon "may be looking to bundle existing as well as emerging standalone subscription products like the ones launched by HBO and Showtime as well as online-only subscription services, and offer them to Prime subscribers on an a la carte basis or through small bundles." If this happened, Amazon Prime users would be able to add channels from third-parties directly to their subscription, with Amazon handling the billing. But while Amazon Prime's huge subscriber base might appeal to third-party networks, the loss of the direct billing relationship with consumers might be a big deterrent during negotiations.
