Inside Spotify's Video + Podcast Plans

Spotify introduced two big features last week - video and podcasts. The streaming giant added a "Shows" tab to their popular app, which introduces users to videos and podcasts by individually customizing the experience for each user. The hope is that this approach, which has worked very well with music and the "Discover Weekly" feature, translates to the new formats seamlessly for users. According to Spotify's VP of product Shiva Rajaraman "Our users appreciate effectively a curated session, not necessarily a bunch of one-off wonders. So a lot of what we're doing with video is to work with partners who can curate different sets of videos for different contexts." Read more on Spotify's plans for video and podcasts here.
