Digital media company Fullscreen announced today that they will be rolling out a direct-to-consumer subscription video service on April 26th. The new service will target 13-30 year olds, and feature original Fullscreen content, live and recorded talk shows, and reruns of classic TV shows like "Dawson's Creek". The monthly charge for the service will be $4.99 a month, and it won't carry traditional ads (although there is an opportunity for marketers to pay to have their brands featured in some of the video content). According to CEO George Strompolos, Fullscreen was prompted to launch their own streaming video service in large part because "we've heard first hand from fans that they are not getting what they want from traditional linear TV, and while they love what they are getting from social media creators, that's not necessarily delivering them premium entertainment experiences. So we want to create something distinct for this audience." Read more on Fullscreen's upcoming subscription vide service here.
