Spotify's New Video Programming

This week Spotify announced some major new video programming, with 12 new music-themed original programs. According to TechCrunch, we should start seeing the new content on Spotify this summer (initially only in the US, UK, Sweden and Germany), featuring performances, pop culture, musical storytelling, animation and videos highlighting music culture. This is a smart move for the streaming music platform, as it not only helps Spotify stand out from its competitors, but the original content also "helps Spotify move away from (or at least complement) the sometimes onerous and not particularly lucrative market of making money from music streaming."
