YouTube Rolling Out Messenger Service

It was reported this week that YouTube has begun rolling out a new, in-app chat feature to some users. The new messenger feature allows users to share embedded videos natively with friends within the chat, which they can then reply to with text or another video. Those who have tested the new feature say it makes sharing videos on the fly easier (no more copy and pasting), and don't require the user to leave the YouTube app at all. It seems that at least for now though, the new YouTube chat feature is not aiming to compete with other chat apps like Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp - according to Wired "don't expect other messaging features like sharing images or sending stickers - this is purely about YouTube videos."
