Midia published an interesting report last week, Decoding The Live Event Consumer, which delves into consumer behavior surrounding live events. The report focuses on the activity around smartphones and social media, and found (among other things) that: 78% of eventgoers rely on ads to discover upcoming events, 57% of eventgoers turn to friends for live event recommendations, and 60% of eventgoers buy tickets directly from the ticketing companies website. According to Midia, "Live and recorded music share the fundamental characteristic that most consumption is artist led. People seek out albums, singles and gigs of their favorite artists and respond to campaigns when these artists are on tour or in cycle." Read more insight on the live event consumer experience here.
