Amazon Video Direct vs. YouTube

The recent launch of Amazon's new ad-supported online video service, Amazon Video Direct, has got a lot of people talking - especially on the direct competition the service poses to YouTube. Amazon's new offering allows content creators and users to upload videos in a similar fashion as YouTube, but with a major difference... a much clearer focus on professional programming that will reduce the costs of building a network. According to Recode, Amazon Video Direct is "offering an opportunity for creators to access their massive distribution, while giving itself a clear competitive advantage in securing the top-tier programming that emerges from the clutter."
