Snapchat Launches Ads API

With the launch of their official application programming interface (API) this week, it looks like Snapchat is ready to start displaying ads between messages from friends for the first time. According to the social media platform, these Snap Ads will appear between Stories, but won't interrupt Stories that users are in the middle of watching. Brands like Hollister, P&G, Warner Bros, and Verizon have already signed up as partners for the initial launch of the ads, which have only appeared in the media section of the app so far. According to DigiDay, "Snapchat launched its ad tech platform with a select group of marketing tech partners as it looks to better compete with the likes of Facebook and Pinterest, offering a more sophisticated ad product."
