YouTube's Red subscription service revealed their new slate of exclusive original programming this week, which is packed with platform-native talent like PewDiePie, Smosh, and Rhett & Link. Many had speculated that YouTube Red would pivot away from digital influencers and gravitate more towards traditional TV and film stars for future programming, but the new release confirms that they plan to stick mainly with home-grown talent (at least for now). According to YouTube Originals VP Susan Daniels, "If we ask our creators, most of them will tell you that there's a project, an idea, a collaboration, or a vision that they've always wanted to bring to life. Late last year we launched YouTube Red Originals for exactly that reason. We wanted to help our creators realize their ambitions on the platform where their community already lives."
