Netflix/CW Streaming Pact

This week the CW and Netflix announced a new multi-year streaming deal which will give Netflix exclusive US access to already aired scripted CW shows, and access to new seasons a short period after the current season airs on the network. The new pact comes at an ideal time for both parties, as their existing 2011 deal is set to expire later this year. According to CBS's Scott Koondel (CBS owns the CW), "This multiyear agreement recognizes the value of our content and it validates the marketplace's confidence in our studio's long-term ability to produce high-quality content. This unique windowing will further extend the CW brand and fan base throughout the television season while providing better in-season exclusivity for our broadcast affiliates, MVPD partners and potential OTT opportunities."
