Instagram Launches 'Stories' Feature

This week Instagram announced the launch of a new 'Stories' feature, which is eerily similar to Snapchat's Stories... the latter of which allows users to post photo and video slideshows that disappear after 24 hours. But Instagram's new Stories feature is different than Snapchat's in a few ways - most notably that: they appear at the top of the main feed instead of on a separate screen, you don't have to follow someone to see their Instagram Stories, and Instagram allows users to pause and even flip back while watching slideshows. According to Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom, "It basically solves a problem for all these people who want to take a ton of photos of an event or something in their lives, but want to manage what their profile looks like and not bomb feed, obviously, as that's one of the no-nos on Instagram."
