YouTube Increasing Original Content

This week YouTube announced plans to significantly increase their investment in original content for their $9.99/month subscription service, YouTube Red. The early success of YouTube Red, which execs say "exceeded expectations", was the main factor in the decision to up support and funding for the 10 original series on the platform, which include hits like PewDiePie and Game Lab. The funding will also help support creators' endeavors outside of the platform - According to YouTube's Head of Global Content, Suzanne Daniels "We want to open Hollywood's rolodex and introduce our creators to visionary directors, writers and producers."
