This week Twitter emerged victorious in the bidding war for right to stream NFL games on Thursday nights. According to sources familiar with the deal, although Twitter was not the largest company in the contest for the rights, they won out over rivals like Facebook in part because of more flexible ad sale terms. According to the NY Times, Twitter "agreed to pay the N.F.L. around $10 million to stream 10 games and to sell only a portion of the ad inventory exclusively." The NFL deal is a huge win for Twitter, who has made a huge play towards live-streaming sports this year.
