A new report released late last week has revealed that smartphone apps now account for half the time the Americans spend online. This is up for 41% in 2014, and actually increases to 60% if you add app use on tablets into the mix. Several factors are responsible for this increase in app use - mainly the increasing ubiquity of smartphones, faster 4G LTE networks and smartphones with larger screens. And according to TechCrunch, "This shift towards apps is exactly why Google has been working to integrate the "web of apps" into its search engine, and to make surfacing the information hidden in apps something its Google Search app is capable of handling."
