Sony Music announced this week that streaming income claimed 42% of their retail recorded music revenue in Q2 - crushing download revenue, which only accounted for 18% of revenue. The increase in streaming revenue generated about $303 million for Sony in Q2, up about 26% year-on-year. Physical sales were also strong, accounting for about 40% of revenue. According to Digital Music news "When licensing income (sync, performance, broadcast etc.) is factored in, streaming made up over 35% of Sony's recorded music revenues in the quarter (Sony's Q2) with download on a measly 15%."
