This week Sony announced that they would be dropping Viacom channels from their TV streaming service, Sony PlayStation Vue. Viacom was Sony's first partner with Vue, and until now channels like Comedy Central, MTV and CMT were available on all paid levels of the service. There was no mention in the report of why Sony has decided to drop Viacom from Vue, but it may have to do with the company's poor performance during the most recent September quarter, which was just recently made public. According to the WSJ, "One question for investors is how widely distributed the company's channels will be in the "skinny" online TV bundles entering the market, given thatseveral small cable operators have dropped Viacom channels in the past couple years."
