IMAX Bets on VR

IMAX has set its sights on virtual reality technology as the future of the movie theater. According to a recent article from Wired, IMAX is betting big on the future of VR and cinema... and is investing $50 million to build the biz: by designing cameras, content, distribution models and more. The company has plans to finance to finance more than 25 experiences over the next 3 years, is working on deals with directors and studios, and just recently announced a partnership with Google to build a cutting edge VR camera. IMAX also just opened up an immersive new VR center in LA, which allows users participating in beta-tests to "try a series of cinematic VR experiences that could accompany the next movie you see."
