Musical.ly Launches New Messenger App

Teen/tween lip-synching app Musical.ly just dropped their new video messenging app, Ping Pong. Ping Pong, which is the 4th app from the Shanghai-based company, is similar to Musical.ly's group video messaging app Squad (released in early January), but focuses more on one-to-one video messaging. Neither Squad or Ping Pong has made much traction yet in the app market, but are likely serving as valuable tests for the company on user preferences/activity. According to TechCrunch, "Likely, the goal here is to see if users prefer to chat in real-time, or if they would prefer one-to-one, asynchronous video messaging."
