New Snapchat Usage #s

eMarketer just released new Snapchat usage numbers, revealing 2017 usage projections that forecast 70.4 million Americans will use the platform this year. This is a 5% jump from predictions made in June (for 2017), and shows some significant momentum for the company leading up to their impending IPO. The new usage numbers also reveal that Snapchat's growth is being driven in large part by older users, who are adopting the social media platform more than ever. According to analyst Jaimie Chung, "Older groups are now more likely to tune in for content. The platform has multiple partnerships with television networks for mini-episodes. Meanwhile, the younger groups are less likely to add Snapchat when Instagram Stories can fulfill their broadcasting needs." Read more on Snapchat's user growth forecast here.
