CNN Adds 360-Video

This week CNN announced the launch of their CNNVR unit, which will lead the networks push into virtual reality and immersive journalism. CNNVR will have correspondents in 12 countries around the world, who will produce reports with immersive features like 360-video and experiment with VR and AR content. CNN has been experimenting with 360-videos over the past few months with great success – the average number of views on each video is over 1 million. According to CNN VP Jason Farkas (who is leading the new team), this the next big content push after TV and digital. “We are adding a third layer, which is VR,” he said. Read more on CNNVR here.
