This week it was revealed that another half-million Americans cut the cord last quarter, and the pay TV industry shrunk by 1.3%. According to MoffettNathanson analyst Craig Moffett, this has been the worst quarter ever for pay TV, and can't be blamed on other factors like housing decline which tend to impact cable subscription growth. "By Moffett's estimates, if you include the people whoshould havesigned up for pay TV when they moved into new homes, 'nearly a million homes either cut the cord or chose not to take one in the first place in Q1.'" Many analysts believe the decline in pay-TV subscribers is mainly fueled by the ever increasing amount of affordable options available for those who are looking to cut the cord.
