Facebook Building Smart Speaker?

Rumors are flying this week that Facebook is building a smart speaker, which would compete directly with Amazon's Echo and Google's Home smart speakers. Facebook's version of the smart-home gadget would reportedly have a touch screen and could launch as soon as Q1 2018. Not a lot else is known about the new Facebook smart speaker yet, but TechCrunch reports that "it could potentially extend Facebook's feed of photos and videos, plus its dominant messaging platform, into the bedroom, living room or kitchen." They also believe that Facebook could potentially earn money directly through on screen ads on the device, and through pairing with users Facebook (and Facebook Messenger) accounts.
