Comparing Per Stream Payouts

Data specialists Information is Beautiful just rolled out a new report focusing on the different payouts that music streaming services send to artists per stream. They analyzed numbers for all the major streaming services (for the sound recording portion payout only, not publishing), and found that Napster ($0.0167), Tidal ($0.0110), and Apple Music ($0.0064) paid out the highest per stream. YouTube had the lowest payouts by a long shot, only paying out about $0.0006 per stream. The figures aren't cut and dry though, and included a number of factors like subscriber tier, market share, and ad rate.
