Video advertising took a big leap in Q2 this year, with mobile ad company Saato reporting that video ad spending was up 142% from Q1. Native advertising also grew 50% quarter-over-quarter, and rewarded video formats (where you watch an ad for in-game or in-app rewards) saw impressions grow 96% - and ad spending increase by 153%. And according to a TechCrunch analysis of the Saato data which looked beyond video, "the report says Android accounted for 57 percent of spending through the Smaato platform, but iPhone owners generated nearly twice as much revenue per user for publishers. And across platforms, in-app ads represented 94 percent of total spending, a new record." Read more on the surge in mobile video ad spending here.
