Google Making Waves

Google has just launched the beta version of an ambitious new online application called Google Wave. It’s a web-based application that combines elements of email, chat, documents and social networking. Google is referring to it as a “hosted conversation.” It lets multiple people, see, edit and interact with various types of content (documents, photos, email, etc.) at the same time.

Everyone in the wave will be able to collaborate in editing and creating these items. There’s also a feature called “replay” that will allow users to rewind the wave and see how the process unfolded. Right now 100,000 people around the world are beta testing it. A full public release is expected sometime in 2010. You can find out more about it here.
