A new study from The Online Publishers Association (its Internet Activity Index) compares people's online habits in 2003 with what's going on today (through May 2009). The study shows large shifts in online behavior, principally in the move from simple communications to the consumption of content. Here's how OPA breaks out Internet users' time spent online now versus 2003:
