Twice a year, when the Audit Bureau of Circulation (the A.C. Nielsen or Arbitron of the newspaper world) reports on newspaper circulation figures, you can count on seeing dismal numbers marked by sharp declines. Typically, the only suspense is in which papers (if any) have managed to increase circulation. For the 6 months ending on September 30th, daily circulation at the nation's top newspapers fell 11%; with Sunday circulation dropping another 8%. The concern for newspapers is that this rate of decline may be accelerating.
Which were the biggest losers this time?
