DIY for Bands

For several years artists have been able to take control of their own careers through self publishing and direct-to-consumer sales. But now, some of the biggest players in music are making it easier than ever for artists to make their material available to fans online. For example, MTV Games is ready to launch its Rock Band Network <http://www.rockband.com/rock-band-network> , which will allow bands to self publish their music into the game. Also, Apple has just clarified the protocol <http://www.apple.com/itunes/lp-and-extras/> for their iTunes LP. This will enable unsigned artists and those on indie labels to make their music available through the iTunes platform.
