Google Preempts News Corp

We've written extensively about Rupert Murdock's threat to block Google's access to News Corp news sites. Google made some moves in December that it would make it easier for publishers to do just that through its search and Google News services. Google announced new changes to their access controls to:

1. Provide a single free story on a paid news site
2. Limit Google searchers access to a news site to five page visits per day
3. Allow publishers to completely opt out of Google News
4. Allow for the blocking of stories or images from Google news, but not from searches, or vice versa.
