Apple Tablet Due in March

The rumors of the new Apple tablet have been flying for months now, but plenty of clues have come out lately that let observers confidently predict that the device will be unveiled in March. We'll no more on Wednesday. Breathless commentators are predicting that this will due to the world of E-readers (among other devices) what the iPod did to portable music players...and what the iPhone did to the smartphone industry.

Of course, until we see what Apple has planned, it's impossible to say exactly what this device might displace, or compete with. Still, it's a good bet that comparing it to an e-Book reader may be selling it short. Besides great design and intuitive interfaces, Apple is famed for expanding the scope of each device that they roll out.

The other important information that we don't have yet...what will the name of the new device be? The iSlate, iTablet, iProd, Magic Slate and others have rumored to be the official appellation. The most persistent rumors have the name as the iSlate...but nothing's carved in stone.
