The Growth of Blu-ray

The annual home video entertainment study by the Digital Entertainment Group <http://www.businessinsider.com/chart-of-the-day-blu-ray-and-digital-not-making-up-for-dvds-decline-2010-3?utm_source=Triggermail&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=SAI_COTD_030410> shows that Blu-ray and digital distribution are picking up steam, while DVD sales and rentals continue to fall off. Blu-ray's growth is the fastest of all, fueled by falling prices on Blu-ray players. Approximately 4.5 million units were sold in the 4th quarter of 2009. Blu-ray made up less than $2 billion (under 10%) of the home entertainment market, but its rate of growth is faster than digital (and VOD) distribution.
