Big Increase in Social Media Via Mobile

Fueled by the rapid increase in the number of smartphones in the market, mobile is the big growth are for social media such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. The study shows that 30.8% of smartphone users in January of 2010 access social media through their mobile browsers, this compares to 22.5% of (a smaller installed base of) smartphone users in January of 2009.

Access to Facebook via mobile browsers increased by 112%, while Twitter's mobile access was up by 347%. Mobile access to MySpace actually declined by 7% from a year earlier. The most impressive thing about all of this is that it only includes access via mobile browsers; access through mobile apps is not counted.
