Baby boomers are much less likely to own smartphones and utilize all features of the mobile web than their younger counterparts. A new study from eMarketers <http://www.emarketer.com/Article.aspx?R=1007542> details how the boomers, the original cell phone users, have slipped behind younger generations in terms of adopting the latest mobile technology. 85% of adults aged 45-64 own mobile phones, but only 55% of that demo says that a mobile phone is a "necessity." The discrepancy is manifested in the number of boomers with smartphones. They make up 30.6% of all mobile phone users, but only 21.1% of smartphone users and just 19.6% of touch-screen phone users.
