Baby boomers are slower to adopt the latest technology. The first generation to grow up with television - and the first to have large-scale exposure to personal computers and mobile phones - has taken a wait-and-see approach to other technologies. The slower pace of adopting smartphones is similar to the boomers lag time in catching on to the benefits of social networking.

Now, boomers are driving much of the growth on sites like Facebook; marketers expect a similar boost for smartphone sales in the near future. Reasons for the expected increase include increasing awareness of the benefits of smartphones in a business environment as well a lower prices for devices and data plans.
