Fox Mobile recently announced a wireless video subscription service called Bitbop. Fox Mobile, part of News Corp, will launch the service later this spring. For $9.99 a month users will be able to view premium content on their smartphones. One observer characterized it as "Hulu on the go."
Bitbop will offer both streaming and downloading of content from Fox and other content creators, including, reportedly, NBC Universal and Discovery. Users allegedly will be able to access the service via Wi-Fi or 3G, although some questions how well carriers will be able to handle the increasing broadband demands over the 3G networks.
