It's painful to recount the latest bad news for the newspaper industry. To no one's surprise circulation continued to drop for the latest 6-month period monitored by the ABC (Audit Bureau of Circulations). The numbers for October 2009 through March 2010 shows an average 8.7% drop in average weekday circulation (compared to the same period a year ago).
The circulation figures are reported twice a year: once for the period of April 1st to September 30th and the other for the 6 months covering October 1st to March 31st. The daily and Sunday numbers this time were an improvement over the numbers from the previous reporting period. Here's a recap of the numbers:
4/09 - 10/09 10/09 - 4/10 Daily - 10.6 % - 8.7 % Sunday - 7.5% - 6.5% -
