The Wall Street Journal is reporting <http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704324304575307142201727232.html> that Research In Motion (RIM) is working on a new touch-screen platform for a new generation of their famous Blackberry line, as well as a new tablet computing device. Among the innovations that RIM is working on for its new touch-screen system is a faster version of its mobile Web browser that will enable access to more than one Web page at a time.
The tablet device, which could be ready by the end of the year, would open a second front in the battle between Apple and RIM. This could be a critical move in reversing RIM's loss of market share. The Journal reports that RIM's smartphone market share has dropped from 54% in Q1 2009 to 38% in Q1 of this year.
