U.S. to Auction More Spectrum for Wireless

Citing a need to increase the nation's mobile capacity due, the White House announced <http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/fact-sheet-doubling-amount-commercial-spectrum-unleash-innovative-potential-wireles> that it will be auctioning off 500 MHz of spectrum over the next 10 years, effectively doubling the current capacity for mobile broadband. With all of those smartphones and iPads vying for available spectrum, mobile broadband traffic is expected to increase exponentially over the next few years. This move is expected to help ease mobile broadband overcrowding, as well as generating revenue for the federal government. There will also be incentives for commercial and public users to use the spectrum more efficiently.
