Cox Cable has struck a deal with TiVo <http://www.marketwatch.com/story/cox-communications-to-promote-tivo-premiere-with-cox-vod-service-to-its-subscribers-2010-08-12?reflink=MW_news_stmp> to offer TiVo Premiers services as part of its Cox On Demand service. Cox will install the boxes for free for its subscribers. This move is a bog win for both companies. Cox gets expanded reach for its VOD services, while TiVo goes legit with a cable company for the first time. TiVo has long been known for its superior interface and performance when compared with the DRV devices used by cable companies. For years TiVo has been on the outside looking in, selling its boxes at retail and cutting deals with other content providers, including DirecTV.
