The same day that Apple rolled out its latest music enhancements, Sony made some announcements of their own. The big announcement was about the expansion of its new Qriocity service to distribute movies, music, games and e-books. The other announcement was about hardware, as Sony introduced new versions of its e-reader device:
A new version of the $299 Reader Daily Edition, currently available in the U.S., which will include Wi-Fi support and AT&T 3G connectivity, which will go on sale in November.
A new $229 Reader Touch Edition with a 6-inch display, expandable memory slots, and the ability to play MP3 and AAC audio files, which goes on sale immediately.
A $179 Reader Pocket Edition with a 5-inch touch-screen display, available now.
