Dish Network's TV Everywhere

DISH Network has joined other pay TV services in giving subscribers the option of watching some programming online. DISH has launched <http://www.dishonline.com> a new "TV Everywhere" website for its 14 million subscribers. Comcast and other providers refer to this concept as "Authentication." The idea is to eventually allow subscribers to access anything that they subscribe to from multiple platforms, not just through a set-top box.

Not all programming will be available through this service. To start with, DISH's service will have programming from Discovery, HGTV and MTV. These channels will be available both for live viewing and with DVR-like features. However, not all content providers are willing to give DISH's subscribers online access.
