Google's Android operating system has surpassed Apple's iOS as the #1 platform for new smartphone sales, but Apple still maintains a strong lead in the number of apps available and sold. That may soon change as the Android Market is offering paid apps in more countries. To date, Android supports paid apps in just 14 countries, but TechCrunch reports <http://techcrunch.com/2010/09/27/android-market-international/> that 12 more are due to go online in the next few weeks. Reports suggest that the new territories include:
- Argentina
- Belgium
- Brazil
- Finland
- Hong Kong
- Israel
- Mexico
- Poland
- Romania
- Russia
- Slovakia
- Singapore
- South Africa
