Android Takes the Lead

Android was the #1 OS for smartphone sales in the U.S. for the first half of 2010. Nielsen's research <http://www.businessinsider.com/android-apple-sales-2010-10> shows that Apple iOS and RIM's Blackberry were tied for second. Android's lead is not surprising considering the number of different phones that use the system and that there are multiple phones by each carrier.

Apple's iOS is available only on the iPhone and only through AT&T. Let's see how this looks next year (if and when) the iPhone is on Verizon and T-Mobile, and once the iPhone 4 has been in the marketplace for a while.
