The Future of HD Radio?
Monday, November 21st, 2005
While HD Radio is at the very earliest stages of being rolled out in the US, digital radio in the UK and some other countries has been around for quite some time. An interesting glimpse into what may happen with digital radio in the U.S. can be seen in an experimental trial in the U.K. and Korea by multimedia companies of using the digital radio infrastructure to deliver mobile digital radio and TV services.
The possibilities are intriguing when you think of the digital radio band being transformed from an audio position into a true multimedia source.
TiVo To Video iPod On Horizon
Tuesday, November 22nd, 2005
The Wall Street Journal has reported that TiVo is adapting its TivoToGo software to work with video iPods and Sony PSPs. Previously, you could only use TiVo downloaded shows and movies on Microsoft-enabled devices. TiVo is doing this without the involvement of any of the involved companies, including Apple and Microsoft. This creates an interesting scenario for TiVo/iTunes users: Apple charges video iPod users to upload network shows and movies to their iPod. With the new TiVo set-up, iPod users could simply record the shows on TiVo and upload them to their video iPod at no charge.
