Google's Android OS has become the most popular among US smartphone users. Thanks to Google's open source approach, the number of Android-powered phones has proliferated rapidly. Along with the increased number of models comes enhanced features and a rapidly-increasing number of Android apps. Consequently, Android users are now using more data than the average iPhone user.
This interesting fact comes from an analysis of data usage <http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704164004575548451269196266.html> of all the major mobile carriers by Validas, a company that analyzes wireless bills for customers. Verizon users, who are mostly Android users, use a lot more data than customers of the other carriers. Verizon customers use 30% more data on average each month than AT&T (iPhone) and even more than T-Mobile and Sprint.
