One of the biggest success stories of 2010 is Groupon, the site that offers local shopping bargains to millions of users around the country. Users, who pay nothing for the privilege of getting the offers, receive an emailed offer each day from a local business through Groupon. However, these are not coupons to be printed then used, or not. Instead, users who are interested must purchase the coupon for the full discount. For example, half off a $40 meal at a local restaurant costs the user $20 to purchase.
Groupon is not the only entity to offer this service, but it has quickly become the most successful. Now, USA Today is getting into the game with a national version of the same concept. USA Today's "Daily Deals" <https://www.usatodayinsiderclub.com/> will give members access to nationwide deals. The national daily is also trying to raise revenue with the service. Members of the "Daily Deal" will have to pay $7.95 a month, or $3.95 if they subscribe to USA Today's e-edition.
