The Audit Bureau of Circulation, the organization that monitors newspaper circulation and distribution, released its semi-annual report that shows newspapers dropping 5% in the 6-month period from April 1st through September 30th compared with the same period a year earlier. The 5% drop, while not good news, was less bad than before. The prior 6-month period saw an 8.7% year-over-year drop.
3 papers saw drops of at least 10%: Newsday, The San Francisco Chronicle and The Houston Chronicle. Among the other notes on the latest figures:
- Sunday circulation was off 4.5% from the previous year.
- Only 2 of the top 25 papers saw increase from last year: The Wall Street Journal and
- The Dallas Morning News.
