A few weeks ago we pointed out the incredible fact that Netflix accounts for roughly 20% of all US Internet traffic during prime time hours. While it may be amazing that one entity could account for such a large portion of the traffic, it's not surprise that streaming media, and the large attendant bandwidth necessary to deliver it, would consume a large percentage of traffic during peak hours.
Another interesting fact about online dominance came from Experian Hitwise. That company, which meters online traffic, said that, as of mid-November, Facebook accounted for over 10% of all US Internet visits and 25% of all pageviews. YouTube was in second place with just over 6% all pageviews.
