CBS’ David Poltrack announced at the recent 38th annual UBS Global Media and Communications Conference that 20% of CBS primetime viewing takes place via DVRs. For the last few years Nielsen ratings data have included information on DVR viewing for up to 7 days from the time of broadcast. But in the second half of this season, Nielsen will start counting multiple viewings via DVR in their numbers, which may significantly boost overall ratings.
According to Nielsen’s figures, here are the programs this season that get the biggest increase from DVR viewing:
- Modern Family adds 5.4 million viewers per episode
- Grey’s Anatomy (+5 million)
- Big Bang Theory (+4.7 million)
- Glee (+4.6 million)
- NCIS (+4.5 million).
